I thought I’d start posting results of the jug tests I’ll be running on some of the
RAW, NPK Industries Products I received recently in the post. For this particular product I will mix a single dose of nutrients according to the label recommendations to ONE gallon each of both distilled water and my tap water. I’m primarily interested in EC and pH values.
Up first is the
RAW GROW 7-4-5. (
Other nutrients such as Ca, Mg, S, B, Fe and Mn are also listed in the ingredients.)
Baseline readings
before adding GROW:
DISTILLED WATER EC = 0.0085 millisiemens
pH = 8.45
TAP WATER EC = 0.222
pH = 8.5
One Teaspoon added to One Gallon of
DISTILLED WATER resulted in the following readings after 24 hours.
(NOTE: GROW mixes very quickly with water.)
EC = 0.675
pH = 5.9
One Teaspoon added to One Gallon of my
TAP WATER resulted in the following readings after 24 hours.
(NOTE: GROW mixes very quickly with water.)
EC = 0.904
pH = 6.5
Several FEED CHARTS are provided on the manufacturer’s website. One such Chart lists PPM Values of their RAW Products.
This Chart states
approximately 380 PPM’s are obtained when One Teaspoon of GROW is added to One Gallon of water.
Via interpolation One Teaspoon of GROW I added to One Galon of Distilled Water generated 337 PPM’s using my EC probe.
1.0 EC/500 ppm(Hanna) = 0.674 EC/X ppm X = 337 ppm.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THOUGHTS: 380 ppm minus 337 ppm equals 43 ppm difference from the manufacturer’s Value and my measured Value. If I would have accurately weighed the GROW in grams (vs. a visual Teaspoon measurement) I may have come closer to their 380 ppm.
As time permits I’ll dribble other RAW Product jug tests. Hope this information is of value to those interested.
