How far down did you place the first layer of stones?
There are only three stacked stone rings above ground as shown. Setting the first circle foundation on the ground consisting of 31 stones was the most time consuming task. For this task I used a level line extending 4.5 feet from the center point of the bed circle to set each stone individually. I then used a clear masonry adhesive to bind the stone layers to one another. Solid as a rock and it ain’t going anywhere.

This is absolutely beautiful. I know the time it takes to make outside your canvas, and you have done something special.

Pyomania Backdraft (Kniphofia hydrid) has been blooming all summer and is likely showing it's last flower of the season.

One year later my flower bed

has filled-in with those perennials that most enjoy their environment. Of those I first planted it appears five species did not survive. As they flower I'll send along some color pics.

    More new blooms.

    This phlox

doesn't show much in the way of flowers unless you look real close.

These tiny white flowers are only 3mm's wide.
