chicken wire, or any other thin wire, is fine to use on your screen and in fact the wire I sometimes use to tie/train the stems ends up being grown into the plant as the branches get thicker.

    The Screen
Rather than flapping about with wood, nails, screws etc get down to your DIY store and buy some 15mm pvc pipe and 90 degree bend push fittings. Attach the screen to the frame using some cable ties.

    Nice and tidy.

    Product Description

    Price per meter.
Stretched over the garden, pea netting is used to support tall or heavy plants as they grow. Most growers will use two layers of netting at different heights and train the plants through the each layer as they grow.
This netting is 1.2m wide and the holes are 16cmx16cm
maybe instead of bending the plant back onto the screen when they get too high you just have a cuple screens so it grows through the 1st and then you put it in flowering and add the 2nd to support the buds? i cant find much info on the net about it but one to try eh

Nah mate, just the best example of the pipe frame I could find.

Been there, done that with the wooden frame and they tend to suck harder than a dyson, well mine do anyway. The pipe frame is really sturdy and can be any size, also pretty easy to take apart and reconfigure if needed.

See that is where I thought the problem was. The plant will grow around the wire so technically the wire is stuck inside the plant. Does that not create disseases and make it harder to chop the plant down at the end. You'll have to cut each bit of wire that has gone into the plant or cut the plant either side of the wire.

Also heard the second screen idea is a waste. The idea is you fill the bottom screen and just have a nice even layer of buds poking just above the screen. Not only that by having a second screen it becomes harder to train your plant.
