    Default Worm castings?

Ive just been reading through various websites looking for an organic fertiliser and i've noticed mealworm castings have been mentioned a few times.. has anyone used them before?

I keep lizards and have an endless supply of the stuff.

Worm castings are usually from earthworms. Mealworms are actually insect larva. I see on the web people using and selling mealworm castings for fertilizer, so I would give it a try.

I just harvested the castings from my worm farm today. It's only small but I got a good 5-6 ltrs of good quality castings from it. (The farm is pictired on the sticky thread: https://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-foru...083#post184083)

I also got a good litre or two of juice in the bottom. Looking forward to trying that out. It's supposed to work wonders.

No idea about reptile shit. I've a fair bit in my Geckos' tanks needs cleaning out. I did a bit of googling & came up with nothing so it's obviously not the magical guano-like stuff you'd/we'd like. It'll be high in chitin (from the insects' shells) so it'll have nitrogen. But I wouldn't think it would have a load of nutrients in it like other manure - reptiles are fairly efficient at extracting the 'goodness' from their food. Depends upon the lizard & its diet I'd suppose.

However, I came accross an aside & that's cricket poo. If you're breeding crickets to feed them then you could try the shit they leave behind in their container. Or put it in a worm farm for extra refinement? Well it's an idea...

If anyones interested, I made a fertiliser by collecting alot of gecko poos and mashing it up with water, my LR2 has grown about 3cm in the two days since.

    Much better than tomato feed
