yeah I guess wine is out of the question before Christmas..I usually get myself a 6 crate of wine from Avios shopping points .I usually have enough to get 6 bottles free with my points every year..Think I will have to do that.. Off course I can still make some wine though..I will have to get cracking. All my brew has gone now,I got sick of the mild lol..I think Barley wine which is a strong beer so I will have to order a kit..

up2, try a wine kit. I've done a couple of THESE and I had crystal clear very drinkable wine in four weeks but left it for another few weeks after bottling. Everyone who tasted it said I was full of shit lol

I actually bough a 5l wine fermenting bin from them as well..I have a chance to use that..yerrr lol..I think drinking it in 21 days would not be too nice but another 2/4 weeks it would taste pretty good..Right,I may get mine from Wilko's as these sell the same type..

I brew beer, lager, stout, red&white wine and will soon try my hand at cider. Getting pretty good at them too.

I'm spoiled, living only a few miles from Coalville, that houses a brewery shop known pretty widely. Also, love close to the John Thomson Inn that produces its 40 pint kits for £7

My pints work out all in for about 35-40p each. Wine ends up about £1.20 a bottle...

Love that there is a brewing thread

People looking at trying brewing for the first time need to know how cheaply you can get set up!

Scour eBay for some used 23l buckets (one with airlock, one with tap), some vwp and keep enough beer bottles to bottle about 21-22l and you're pretty much there. Keep your eyes open and wit habit of luck you're set up for £10-£15.

I of course went overboard like I always do and ordered most of my stuff new online.

I now use this stuff as you don't need to rinse out the bottles again..saves a lot of time too

just ordered a 6 bottle wine kit and 40 pints kit..The beer cost me £22 but it's got 2 tins not the usual one so it's going to be quite strong. No extra sugar is to be added but instead of brewing 40 pints I will be doing 30 pints to make it stronger.

Sounds good and all that bro, but I've had GREAT tasting beers (40 pint) that were pretty strong! They cost no more than £12 (plus sugar).

Edit: my post was meant to sound helpful, not argumentative
