and somewhere under there is a wilma... honest! I cover the tray with a piece of 25mm king span, keeping tank temperature nice and even while keeping crud out of the res. the tap has a bigger handle to avoid fuk ups and the hose only gets screwed in when I want to empty the res this is so I don't kick or stand on the hose when not in use, another thing to remember is putting holes in the side walls of the res weakens the tank especially around the tap, ensure you don't force the tap on or off causing more pressure on the weak joint.
