Thumbs up Choosing Your Marijuana - Sativa Or Indica?

Marijuana comes in two basic types - Sativa & Indica. Which type you choose will determine the effects you feel. Each type has its own distinct set of charasteristics.

Sativas are known for their height and their leggy, often sparse, leaves. Sativas can be anywhere from tall and round like a massive bush, to lean and spindly with a few large colas. The leaves - a trademark of the sativa strain - are long and thin. The odor varies with the particular strain that is growing.

The sativa high is often characterized as uplifting and energetic. The effects of a sativa marijuana are mostly cerebral. They give a feeling of optimism and well - being, as well as providing a good measure of pain relief for certain symptoms. A few pure sativas are also very high in THC content. They are known to have a quite spacey, or hallucinogenic, effect. Sativas are a good choice for daytime smoking.

Indicas are known for their smaller stature. They are relatively short and bushy. Some are compact, others are of a more moderate height. Indicas tend to grow wider and rounder than sativas. Many look like small shrubs. Indicas typically grow out many more smaller side colas.

The indica highs are most often described as a pleasant body buzz. Indicas are great for relaxation, stress relief, and for an overall sense of calm and serenity. Marijuana indicas are also very effective for overall body pain relief, and often used in the treatment of insomnia. They are the late - evening choice of many smokers as an all - night sleep aid. A few pure indica strains are very potent in THC, and will cause the "couchlock" effect, enabling the smoker to simply sit still and enjoy the experience of the smoke.

Marijuana strains are available in the entire spectrum from pure sativas to pure indicas, and in every combination in - between. There are 30% sativa - 70% indica strains, there are 80% sativa - 20% indica strains, and many, many 50% - 50% combinations, as well as others.

It takes some time and a lot of experimentation to find the most effective balance for each person, but one thing is for sure - there is a marijuana strain available somewhere that would please any smoker.

    yeah haze is a Sativa,

there is also a third type of weed.... and our government (the uk) was growing it in a field in england somewhere, and some young people found it and thought they had hit the jack pot with a huge field of weed growing in it. However, much to their demise, it was not a THC producing species (indica or sativa).

That would be the Ruderalis sub species of Cannabis, used in the creation of autoflowers as far as we(the recreational user) are concerned, it produces barely any thc or cbd, however as it hails from regions such as Far Northern Europe, and Siberia, it has to be a genetic cycle, as opposed to a natural cycle.

Funnily enough we have 3 farms in the UK with license to grow any strain of cannabis suited to their needs, incidentally all 3 farms are owned by big pharma.

The plants they grow will get you high for sure, its for the development of the drug Sativex, for Altzeimers, Huntingdons, and Ms primarily.

Just helping to keep the loop going...

    Ok Re: Cannabis....

All Cannabis is Classified as Cannabis Sativa L.

Sub Species include... Cannabis sativa, Cannabis Indica, Cannabis Ruderalis, Cannabis Chinesis, Cannabis Kafiristanica & some more I can't remember off the top of my head.

Sativa = Originate from Equatorial areas, give or take 15 degrees lattitude either side. They're long flowering, High in THC, Low in CBD. Sometimes they have no CBD & the Equatorial Pure Landrace Sativas are vey High in THCV, Tetrahydrocannabinol ( a very Psychoactive cannabinoid, present in Sativas that get high levels of Ultra Violet rays)...High THc, with ThCV 7 no CbD = Very Psychoactive High, no couchlock & even trippy

Indica = Shorter plants, High in THC & Higher levels of CBD, most strains of Indica originate from the Hindu Kush mountain range, or Afghanistan, though there are also others from India & Nepal...The Ratio of High THC & raised levels of CBD gives a very heavy stoney effect

Cannabis Ruderalis = Plants originating from Russia & certain other areas. Ruderalis was originally a wild Plant species which flowered in proportion to the length of it's life rather than photoperiod. Breeders started to incoorporate Ruderalis with Indica & Sativa crosses to bring down the flowering times.
Long before the current trend for autoflowering Hybrids, seeds that were bred with Ruderalis were generally considered a total waste of time, as they were Low in THC as are Most Autoflowering Hybrids.

    Hope that explains it ok

Oh I forgot to tell you about Haze...

    Haze
was bred out in the 1970's by two Brothers from California & their Nickname was the Haze Bros. They wanted to create the Ultimate Sativa Cross & after many years they crossed Columbian, Mexican & Thai Sativas to Create the Original Haze

They eventually retired from breeding & on a trip to Amsterdam they passed some of Their Haze seeds on to Neville. Neville created Nevilles Haze by adding a touch of Northern Lights to bring down the Flowering time
