    Default Keeping water from going stagnant

    Right so I've got a 300 litre water butt what I'm thinking of doing is filling it up and keeping with fresh water ready to go into my NFT trays. After reading a thread about water stones and them been a nice home for pythuim what I am supposed to use to keep the water from going manky? Thanks peeps

    i've used an airstone in my water butt for 3 grows (10 months) with no problems what so ever. the chlorine you add every time you top it up kills the nasties before it evaporates off.

    Adding some activated carbon to the reservoir might help. I know people who use ordinary barbecue charcoal in their garden water butts, and even that seems to work quite well.

    i use a 6 inch cheap one from fleabay, it was £2. if you aren't running anything else of the pump 10l/min will be plenty.
