Having given up with the designer composts long ago, it's B&Q multipurpose all the way these daze. Although if the local garden centre was still selling JAB multi
I think I'd still be using that.
I find it much easier to get a hold of a plants requirements when using standard composts with a little perlite than using the all singing, all dancing brands.

They are the strangest weed plants I have ever seen diaper

    For me is JAB/JI

I got hold of a cheap bag of BioBizz Allmix, its really really bad soil, in my humble opinion

See i have to disagree with this mate. I know you can get great results with cheaper soils but i've had crap results when using cheaper soils everytime, they contain far to much sticks and twigs and bits of wood and not enough goodies for the macro flora. I found when using cheaper soils i had to use nutes alot sooner aswell.

With john innes i vegged some stinky plant's for 8 weeks before needing any feed and that was john innes No2. Im using JAB now and i keep getting bloody fungus gnats everytime i use it, thats why i changed back along to john innes. The only reason i've gone back to JAB is because it's nice and light in weight where as the john innes being loam based is very heavy and a bloody nightmare to carry up 15" pot's in the loft full of it. lol

So aslong as i use JAB i have to keep using gnat off until i get the buggers under control.

I agree mate and the light mix has gone the same way. I lost 9 cuttings due to them not rooting in light mix. When i potted up a seed grown plant into the (brand new) light mix to see if it was that, the plant went yellow in a week and it was only a very small plant.

I now use the john innes No2 for seedlings and very young plants.
