    Levingtons with added JI (with no1&no3) is my weapon of choice, i tried the hombase with JI but i didn't like it, it just looked cheaper if you know what i mean & i got a lot more nute burn with it ..

    though i was nearly tempted to try the big 70ltr bags of J Arthur Bowers multi compost with added JI at @ £3.50-£4.00 a bag .. maybe next time ..

    Since starting out with light mix I then moved to Plagron light mix which is great, but a little too airy for my liking. I've been using John inns no2 since the last repot (with perlite at around 30%) and love the stuff. I'd say a mix of the two would be perfect..


    Anyone who says nothing is impossible clearly has never tried to slam a revolving door..

    hey, newbe grower was just wonderng what poeples soil of choice is ? i was planning on using john innes 1,2,3 with 30% pelte or whatever its called.

    have a look at those two, the batmix in particular certainly seems to be popular these days

    ive got the light mix waiting to be used and the texture of it is amazing, you can tell its quality shit

    I grew my seedling and a £1 bag of soil from the pound shop with great results, i now use miracle grow multi purpose and won't change!

    got to say that having seen the results from several grows using bat mix, I've had to indulge myself!

    Here's the which compost trials for 2008, it may be of interest to some of you.
    One thing i would agree with is the focus multi purpose compost is shit.

    These composts are chem based? Thats something that puts me off the cheaper soils

    As for all-mix being poor soil I have plenty of pics of very healthy plants in all-mix so I can't say I agree and I first used it 2 years ago and have been using it recently to veg plants.
