    Default Made Some ISO Oil

Made some ISO oil over the weekend.
I've taken a crap load of photos to show how I did it

So first off I get all the stuff together

The material I'll be using is just fan leaves, sticks, stems, left over weed from bubble hash run & general cabbage you normally throw away

I then pour some of the alcohol into a smaller container so I can put this in to the freezer overnight with the weed to get nice & cold. This help stop the alcohol heating up & evaporating & stops it stinking the place out,it also help stop the alcohol extracting contaminates from the weed that you don't need.

    Next Day

Take the alcohol & weed out the freezer

I use a small glass jar so I don't use huge amounts of alcohol which make it easier to evaporate off later on.So I then fill my glass jar,not quiet to the top.

Then fill with alcohol, just enough to cover the weed

Stick the lid back on & give it a shake

Stick it back in the freezer & set my phone alarm for 1/2 hour

Put the weed back in the freezer & refill the alcohol container & stick that back in freezer

So after soaking for 1/2 hour I take it out the freezer & it's time to strain it out.

While that is straining I'll refill the jar with weed

Get the strained off alcohol & pour that back into the jar with the weed.Alcohol has no saturation point so you can keep using the same bit over & over again.

Top the jar up with a bit more alcohol.Give it a shake & back to the freezer with all the other bits, remembering to set my alarm for 1/2 hour again

I put the weed back on the canteen again to let any remaining alcohol strain off while I'm waiting for this next lot to soak

So after another 1/2 hour it's time to take this lot out the freezer & strain that off

Refill the jar, pour the alcohol back in,top it up with bit more alcohol, give it a shake, back to the freezer & set the alarm for 1/2 hour again

And I keep repeating that until the whole lots done.

So next I clean out my other jars which I'll be using to strain out any plant matter.

I use my bubble bags to help me do this. They are the three bottom bags with the finest mesh.

Next it's on to filtering with the coffee filters.I stick three filters inside each other so it'll be triple filtered twice.

I fill a spray bottle with some alcohol & spray the filters so that the alcohol with oil in it doesn't soak in to the filters

The alcohol looks dark & red in the photo, but clear green in the day light

Now on to evaporating the alcohol off.

I'm using two pyrex dishes to make a hot water bath & using an old sandwich toaster to help keep the water hot.

VERY IMPORTANT.YOU NEED TO DO THIS IN A WELL VENTILATED ROOM AS EVAPORATING ALCOHOL PRODUCES DANGEROUS & EXPLOSIVE FUMES

So I'm doing this in my shed with the door open

I fill the bath with hot water, pour in the alcohol, add more hot water until in reaches over the level of the alcohol.

You can see the oil starting to form on the side of the dish & how clean it is & why I do all that filtering

After a while the water goes cold so I change it every 1/2 hour or so

After an hour I start to really notice the alcohol evaporating off

And after a couple more hours it's all evaporated off & it's now on to purging the last of the alcohol off.

I put mine on the hot stove for a minute until it starts to bubble up,then take it off & I give it a stir to help burst the bubbles & release the remaining alcohol. Then I keep repeating this until it doesn't bubble anymore.

Now there's no more bubble appearing it looks pretty much purged & it's time to try it out
