Yeah be careful with that diatomaceous earth mate, you might wanna just spray it down with some water (fine spray bottle)..so it won't kick up on you.
That's what I've done for now, spray it down, but having to keep it wet renders it pointless anyway. I think I might thin it out and soil over it tomorrow just to be on the safe side. Pity as it really is effective but hey ho, not everything suits every growing space!

Cheers man, good to have you along.

Looks like I might be growing another bowling ball here with the bluematic - she's growing well but so far just as compact as my last girl was. I think it might be partly because both plants I've worked on the principle of raising the plant to get enough light rather than increasing the brightness - I'm thinking maybe where the plant gets plenty of light from every angle early on maybe it's a bit less likely to over stretch. Or could jist be a coincidence, who knows?

In terms of lateral growth at least she's not hanging around this one - day 10 above soil this and a significant shift on from the last update - going to have to decide what to do about topping soon aren't I?

Welcome aboard mate, good to have you along.

I've made a decision, for now at least, on a training style - if she's staying this stumpy I'm not going to top her, which I figure means I can be a bit more aggressive with general pruning. What I'm going to do is try and prune her into a kind of menorah shape to take advantage of the case dimensions, so I've pruned off the 4 (2 on each side) baby tops that were growing towards the sides of the case and left the two that are growing out towards the front and back of the case intact - over time I'll try and train them out wide.

I also want to try being reasonably aggressive with pruning fan leaves (in particular those that are growing over the tops I want to encourage - I want tops to grow length ways and fans to grow width ways, essentially) but I think it's a bit early yet to hack off the two offenders that are there just now.

Little bit of tip drooping, which looks like too much N to my eye - if so there's not much I can do about it but I don't think it's a serious worry as it is.

EDIT - upside down once again, didn't realise I was growing in Oz.

Agreed mate, I get the impression auto breeding has moved on a lot since when people used to say you shouldn't touch them. Especially true when you don't want them to grow that big anyway. Ok, maybe it might take a bit longer to finish due to stress but I'm in no great rush anyway.

I'll get a pot brewing mate, the finest Italian blend that £1.34 and a trip to Asda can buy.

Yesterday she had a good thorough water with power roots and nemasys (seen a couple of gnats on my sticky trap, not millions but enough to want to deal with it!) and I've been training and pruning into the menorah kind of shape I was talking about. She's doing pretty not too bad I'd say, if this is about day 17 above ground.

Open to opinions, but I am still half tempted to top her though after deciding I wouldn't - a growth spurt on the lower branches would really help spread her out wide and I don't ideally want much more height than this before she enters the stretch phase.
