    Hey Dude,

I would agree with easy-T. Coco on its own needs to be continually enriched with nutrients, though the upside is its hard to over water with coco. Also adding coffee grounds and banana peels without composting them or adding them to at least a soil and coco mix ( not coco on its own) a few months before adding your plants is potentially hazardous. The material needs time to break down in the soil so the nutrients are readily available to the plant.

I am on my first grow with 100% organic no-till soil and through quite a few hours of research I decided to start with the following soil blend recipe as a starting point.

    30% good quality organic soil
    30% coco
    30% quality organic compost
    10% perlite.

From here you can add a range of various organic dry amendments by either adding to your mix as you make it or by top dressing the soil with the amendments during the grow. Check out subcool’s supersoil recipe on YouTube which will also lead you to others with their variation of a organic super soil recipes.

    Hope that helps mate.

If you want to go super organic you're going in the wrong direction.

Maybe tackle the gnats before reinventing the wheel

Spot on!! I use to grow in straight coco and had issues at times with fungus gnats. The grow medium is not your issue dude.

Auto's or photo's There's a vast difference in super soil for the type plant your growing, for auto's you need a much lighter mix your only in the soil for 10ish weeks, photo's need a stronger mix to carry them further, plus extra dressings through the grow. If you get the mix right you shouldn't have a problem with gnats
So much to learn, so little time to learn it
