I've got these amazing plants right but the thing is there getting 18hours light and I need to flip to 12/12

    The light cycle is

    On 4am-10pm

But I want to give my plants the lights on during night time hours. Temp control etc

What's the best way of going about this??

Get you a timer and run your lights off of that there is even a smart surge protector on amazon where you can program each plug to turn on or off when you want

Use a timer and set to whatever time you want.

Assuming a mechanical timer, set it to 12/12 and lights off. Plug it in and then, when it's the time that you want the light to be on, slowly slowly rotate the dial until the light comes on.

Don't worry about the plants, they can easily cope with a messed about light schedule for a day.

    Yes I've got a timer

I was just wondering how to get them to say switch on at 10pm and off at 10am. Is it best to let them sleep in to make the jump or longer days?

I could just switch the timer to off at 10am but would mean plants get 6 hours of light then flipped to 12 hours dark
