    Default PH pen

Couldn't find anywhere else to slot this. I bought a ph pen, to calibrate it you do it to 3 settings, 6.86, 4.00 and 9.something. Well the first one fucked up and couldn't get it to calibrate so got another and this time followed everything to the letter. Again it didn't calibrate it past the 6.86, soon as I tried to cal the 4.00 it just says error. Gave up,then later on checked a few sites to see the ph level of volvic and most said 7.5, bought a bottle and checked it and it flashed bang on 7.50. Do you reckon this means even though it wouldn't go through the whole calibrating process its still calibrated ok for me to check the water I'll be giving the plants?

Do you have the 3 calibration solutions?

My pen you have to calibrate 2 pH levels.

I start with 7 then rinse and then calibrate with 4 or 10.

Not sure what make/model of pen you have but with the essentials pen you can calibrate to either 4 or 7 but dont need to do it to both

If its reading the correct ph in something you know (the volvic water) id be happy to use it

Are you growing in coco or hydro? Because youll get away with a 0.1 difference in coco i reckon but cant say for hydro

It came with 3 solutions, 1 pkt use so can't test again. Fucking hate technology, always makes me look stupid lol. Its a tropic mix, says 40% coco and 60% peat, has calcium & magnesium in too it says.

Why not test the pen against the other solutions and satisfy yourself it is working correctly?

Youre supposed to put all 3 in 3 seperate containers and calibrate ,rinse, dry and repeat for the next 2 ph levels so you have to use all 3 at once.

If yours is a hassle free one let me know what it is mate and I'll remember for the future. Naive as fuck when I started this, thought I'd be all set up for about 160 haha, Damn fan and variac was about that, so I cheaped out on the ph tester. Already ordered material to split the room my tents in so I can open it up to 5ft x 2.5ft, spent about 100 there and then I got fucking idol hands and bought a Makita 18v combi and the jigsaw to match lol. I do miss kit day.

Mate it spirals so quick in the quest for providing for our girls. It starts with one and ends up a jungle!

I would have recommend Bluelabs but two crapped on me recently. 70 quid a pop:-(

Milwaukee is the brand to go for I believe.
