Welcome To My World!!!!!
It?s time to build a raised bed together.
My tent is 1.2 x 1.2 x 2 m so I?ve build the bed 1.1,x 1.1 x 400 mm approx but I have only filled the soil to around 300 mm max
I got 35 liter fabric pots or bigger if you can and took them to the dry cleaner and got them to join them up to make a big square then I stapled it to a 2 x 2 frame. I done 3 x 3 legs.
Then I put a layer of basalt.
If your in the states you?ll find the ingredients I wanted but the idea is to source local and sustainable as you can.
The soil mix is as follows:
1:1:1
80 liters Aeration) I have used 60 litres growstones gs-2 instead of perlite( this will hold up in the soil a lot better and retain water etc) and 20 litres rice hulls the rice hulls are a great source of silica and organic matter as they eventually breakdown again.
80 litres peat alternative(moorland gold)
80 litres from the top layer of my original raised bed which was mainly humus and wormcastings
But a quality castings or compost will do.
AMENDMENTS: all per cubic foot(28 liters mix)
1 cup kelp meal (Acadian is best)
1 cup neem (Indian wild harvested)
1 cup crab meal (I had to get a shrimp/prawn mix) it?s crustacean meal were after here but the reason for the crab meal is it adds a good amount of calcium carbonates and some other nutrients also.
1 cup malted barley (Enzymes, pest control, reduces harvest time, increases thc.)
Then the minerals: 4 cups per cubic foot
1/2 cup oyster shell flour(ideally San Francisco Bay Area ideally)
1/2 cup oyster shell crushed
1 cup gypsum
2 cups volcanic rockdust or 50/50 rockdust and pumice if you can find the pumice.i would even put basalt in too if I could find it fine enough.
I added humate/Humic powder into the mix aswell as directed plus 300 grams of mycorr max
This was left for two weeks then I planted a mixed cover crop of alfalfa, fenugreek, hemp flax and quinoa it was all I had but we will go into the cover crops a lot more in the organic section aswell as here.
Then this grew for a couple weeks and got chopped then I added a load of leaves and trim from making bubblehash and planted a cover crop again
You?ll see another top dress of neem here too for the pest!
I put 6 ladies in there on the 27 November
I added one more lady into the mix so there?s seven in there now I?ll run through them later this was on the 8th this month
And I tied them down a bit last night not thinking about watering because I haven?t got the blumats set up ffs.
More to follow stay blessed people,
Redz
